La Mar Salada Restaurant
La Mar Salada is a restaurant located on the neighborhood of La Barceloneta, the quarter closer to the beach. You can find it at Passeig Joan de Borbó, one of the largest streets of the neighborhood and the most changed in the last few years; here you can find a lot of restaurants, but there are just some as good as this one.
It was founded in 1993 and it’s one of the most outstanding restaurants on seafood. On the restaurant you can find traditional Catalan plates, but with a twist, and delicious tapas, such as chipirones (small squids), navajas (razor shell) and a big etcetera. The restaurant has two big dining rooms and privileged views of the Barcelona Harbor from its dining room on the first floor. It also has a big terrace if you want to enjoy de sea breeze.
What makes the diference?
La Mar Salada counts on their kitchen with one of the most renowned chefs in the panorama, Marc Singla. He is famous for his career at the Talaia Restaurant, the only restaurant that Ferran Adrià owned in Barcelona. He was famous everywhere for his creation ‘deconstructed tortilla’ in 1996. The team is completed with Albert Enrich on the desserts and Marta Cid on the floor.
They also use the freshest products for their dishes, especially the fish. They are very close to the sea en they go every day to the fish market so they can have the best products.
We recommend you to try one of their rices, as its their specialty. We love the ‘Arròs negre amb sepió de la llotja i carcofes’ , it means Rice with calamari tint, cuttlefish and artichoke. We also recommend the simple paella, that goes with shrimps and scampi.
